Using Stride

Stride is an iPhone app published by Apphive Technologies. By downloading or using it you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use the app. Stride requires iOS 17 or later, and its companion app requires watchOS 10 or later.

What Stride is, and what it is not

Stride converts movement recorded by Apple Health into minutes of screen time, and uses Apple’s Screen Time frameworks to pause apps you have chosen. It is not a medical device, and nothing in it is medical advice. The step goals, exchange rates and earning targets are convenience settings you choose, not clinical recommendations, and they are not designed for any therapeutic purpose.

Exercise carries risk. Talk to a qualified professional before starting or changing an exercise routine, and stop if you feel unwell. Do not push yourself to earn screen time — the app will still be there tomorrow, and no feature of Stride should be treated as a reason to over-exert yourself. If you have a condition affected by exercise or by screen use, please take advice from a professional rather than from an app.

Stride is also not a monitoring or supervision tool. It manages only the device it is installed on, in Apple’s self-management mode.

Subscriptions, billing and renewal

Stride Pro is an auto-renewing subscription: $4.99 per month, or $19.99 per year with a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at purchase confirmation. It renews at the same price and duration unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends; renewal is charged within 24 hours before that point. Manage or cancel in Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased. Prices in USD; may vary by region.

An active subscription is required to choose apps to block and to arm the shield. The rest of the app — earning, your balance, your history and your settings — remains available so you can evaluate it first.

All payments, taxes and refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms; we never process your payment details. Refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Your use of the app is also governed by Apple’s standard EULA.

Cancelling, and what happens next

You can cancel at any time in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, and you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

When a subscription ends, Stride stops pausing your apps immediately and unconditionally — including while offline and with the app closed. You will never need to pay, sign in, or contact us in order to regain access to your own apps.

Acceptable use

  • Use Stride only on a device you own or are authorised to control.
  • Don’t falsify health data to inflate your balance. Stride discards manually-entered Health samples and caps implausible step rates; circumventing those protections is a breach of these terms and mostly a way of lying to yourself.
  • Don’t reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app except where the law expressly allows it.

Third-party services

  • Apple — the App Store, StoreKit for payments, HealthKit for movement totals, and the Screen Time frameworks that perform the actual blocking.
  • RevenueCat — subscription validation in anonymous mode, receiving purchase and entitlement data only.

What each receives is described in our Privacy Policy.

Availability and changes to the app

We may add, change or remove features over time, and Stride depends on Apple frameworks and operating-system behaviour that are outside our control. Screen Time enforcement can be affected by iOS updates, permission changes, device settings or restarts, so Stride cannot guarantee that a given app will be paused at a given moment.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Stride is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will produce any particular change in your screen time, activity levels or wellbeing.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Apphive Technologies is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from missed notifications, apps that were or were not paused, or reliance on figures shown in the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Bengaluru, India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute — except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally.

Changes to these terms

We will update the “Last updated” date above when these terms change, and surface material changes in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Stride after a change means you accept the revised terms.
